Anytime we cook food, soup, or even boil water the black inner lining teflon flakes off and pollutes our food, soup, or water. Is this cancerous?
Also, one time we were cooking eggs and the teflon just started to bubble and started a chemical fire (tons of chemical smoke, no actual fire) and we had to air out our apartment for 30 minutes and coughed for the next 3 hours. This was NOT our fault, we properly oiled/buttered the pan and did not overcook it or the eggs. It was a natural, normal cooking session but the teflon just decided [...] Continue Reading…

1-Has the government been involved in this?
2-Any websites that warn consumers about this serious health concern?
3- What kind of cookware do you use?
Thanks!

My bro put a teflon or plastic spatula in the top rack of a load of dishes in the dishwasher. Well, during the rinse sequence the spatula apparently fell into the very bottom. When the heated dry sequence initiated, the heating pad was in contact with the spatula and melted it. When my brother opened the dishwasher he was bombarded by stinky chemical smelling steam – fumes. Now (a few hours later) he has a chemical taste in his mouth and nausea – and exhaustion. He’s feeling a little better and drove over here [...] Continue Reading…

I have learned (and observed) that most hard anodized cookwares have a layer of non-stick coating, in most cases Teflon. Since hard anodized surface is supposed to be naturally non-stick, WHY would the manufacturers add this coating (which can be harmful to health)? It’s very hard to find real hard anodized cookware without additional non-stick coating.

I bought a Caphalon non-stick skillet at an outlet store location several months ago, and I have really become rather fond of it. Granted, it took me a bit of time to get used to cooking with it [in truth, I still haven't completely mastered it]. I have had it about 6 months and the cooking surface has developed a couple of scratches and dings despite my best efforts and not owning / using any kitchen utensils made of wood or metal.
1) is the technology improved so that the pan can still be used even though the surface of [...] Continue Reading…

We have a new website we are putting up at www.Mencook2.com. It launches Sept. 1. The reason I am saying this is that we are selling extremely high quality cookware but are interested in finding out what people prefer. Personally I think copper looks great and heats great but is not as good (health reasons) as something like tri ply material. I do not like Teflon and only think aluminum is good in the middle (tri ply). Is my view warped or realistic?
Any comments would help immensely.
Thanks so much ahead of time for all responses.

I usually make this spinach-egg omelet. I use 2 eggs and a small amount of blanched spinach. I use 1 tbsp of whipped butter (this equates to a little over 1/2 a tbsp of stick butter) to grease the pan, and my omelet STILL sticks. I use a stainless steel pan (I don’t use nonstick/Teflon pans for personal health reasons). Oh yeah, and don’t recommend using cooking spray; I prefer not to coat my food in chemicals propellants.
Thanks to all who respond!

TEFLON?
I know it sounds stupid, but I’m curious. We have teflon (non-stick) pans/pots that are pretty old. The teflon is scratched and chipped all over. We currently don’t have the $$$ to buy better quality pans/pots as replacements.
Some of the cookware is in such poor shape that when I cook, the teflon coating comes off in pieces, and gets cooked into the food. They are too small to pick out, so we just eat the food with the little teflon bits in it.
Is this bad for you? Are there any long term effects from digesting teflon? Any [...] Continue Reading…

I would like to buy the most quality and HEALTHIEST pots, pans & bakeware (price is not an issue.) I have heard that some deteriorate as you cook with time and can cause health hazzards (cancer)…such as non-stick brands (Teflon) or even aluminum. Can you recommend what type of material (examples: stainless steel, copper, cast iron, etc.) is the best for your health to cook with and maybe even some brand names??? I greatly appreciate it!
