I would like to buy the most quality and HEALTHIEST pots, pans & bakeware (price is not an issue.) I have heard that some deteriorate as you cook with time and can cause health hazzards (cancer)…such as non-stick brands (Teflon) or even aluminum. Can you recommend what type of material (examples: stainless steel, copper, cast iron, etc.) is the best for your health to cook with and maybe even some brand names??? I greatly appreciate it!

Is it also contained in any type of carpet sprays, plastics we put our food in or any other type of thing that can directly affect our health?

I’ve read that cooking in alluminium posts can risk aluminium leaching into the food, which is supposed to be unhealthy.
1) Do aluminum pots leach aluminum no matter how old and used they are?
2) If it is true is aluminum bad for human health?
3) What kind of pots should we use for cooking then: steel, iron, teflon, clay???? are any of these safer?

I wrote earlier about the teflon-coated school uniform shorts that my daughter-in-law has bought for my grandsons -http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind…
Now I have found an article backing up my concerns -http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/…
Should I insist that she stops making them wear them or is this just a “health scare” as she insists?
I am really worried and *I* would buy them more suitable shorts even though they cost more and *I* would wash and iron them too if timesaving is what she is worried about rather than their health.
Best wishes,
Joan.

I was steaming some vegetables, and I forgot to check on it. The water had evaporated, and the teflon was burning up, enough to set off the smoke alarm.
I ate the vegetables that were steamed, and then took the steamer out of the pan, and the teflon non-stick coating was sticking upward and the bottom of the steamer was colored dark brown.
So since I ate the vegetables, will I be sick? What are the health effects?

By dangerous, I mean hazardous to one’s health (cancer-causing, carcinogen creating, a possibility of disease). If you could clearly see that the following could create harm down the road, would you stop the use of the following? (In other words, what would you live without for health reasons if you honestly knew that they cause harm)
1. A cell phone
2. A microwave
3. Diet Soda
4. Processed Foods
5. Teflon non-stick coating
6. Flu shots or any childhood shots
7. Chocolate (non-organic)
Just curious.
Thank you.

… Now I have been through this issue before but I have been away and have agreed to take my grandsons into school and pick them up again but I have told my daughter-in-law that I will not take them in wearing the teflon shorts that she bought for them last term because I consider them harmful especially if they are sitting in them all day.
Now I found alternative shorts for them and dropped them off for her and also have spare pairs for them here.
She *agreed* that she would dress them in my shorts but I [...] Continue Reading…

I have switched from teflon and aluminum cook ware to cast iorn and stainless steel due to the health concerns of both aluminum and teflon. I seasoned the skillets once and they remained non-stick until the wife washed them in soapy water with an sos pad. I always wiped clean with paper towel or boiled water in the skillet for more stubborn stains. Because of my wife’s method, the seasoning is gone and they stick.
