Is it also contained in any type of carpet sprays, plastics we put our food in or any other type of thing that can directly affect our health?

I’ve read that cooking in alluminium posts can risk aluminium leaching into the food, which is supposed to be unhealthy.
1) Do aluminum pots leach aluminum no matter how old and used they are?
2) If it is true is aluminum bad for human health?
3) What kind of pots should we use for cooking then: steel, iron, teflon, clay???? are any of these safer?

I was steaming some vegetables, and I forgot to check on it. The water had evaporated, and the teflon was burning up, enough to set off the smoke alarm.
I ate the vegetables that were steamed, and then took the steamer out of the pan, and the teflon non-stick coating was sticking upward and the bottom of the steamer was colored dark brown.
So since I ate the vegetables, will I be sick? What are the health effects?

I wrote earlier about the teflon-coated school uniform shorts that my daughter-in-law has bought for my grandsons.
Now I have found an article backing up my concerns -http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/…
Should I insist that she stops making them wear them or is this just a “health scare” as she insists?
I am really worried and *I* would buy them more suitable shorts even though they cost more and *I* would wash and iron them too if timesaving is what she is worried about rather than their health.
Best wishes,

By dangerous, I mean hazardous to one’s health (cancer-causing, carcinogen creating, a possibility of disease). If you could clearly see that the following could create harm down the road, would you stop the use of the following? (In other words, what would you live without for health reasons if you honestly knew that they cause harm)
1. A cell phone
2. A microwave
3. Diet Soda
4. Processed Foods
5. Teflon non-stick coating
6. Flu shots or any childhood shots
7. Chocolate (non-organic)
Just curious. :) Thank you.

… Now I have been through this issue before but I have been away and have agreed to take my grandsons into school and pick them up again but I have told my daughter-in-law that I will not take them in wearing the teflon shorts that she bought for them last term because I consider them harmful especially if they are sitting in them all day.
Now I found alternative shorts for them and dropped them off for her and also have spare pairs for them here.
She *agreed* that she would dress them in my shorts but I [...] Continue Reading…

I have switched from teflon and aluminum cook ware to cast iorn and stainless steel due to the health concerns of both aluminum and teflon. I seasoned the skillets once and they remained non-stick until the wife washed them in soapy water with an sos pad. I always wiped clean with paper towel or boiled water in the skillet for more stubborn stains. Because of my wife’s method, the seasoning is gone and they stick.

It’s all over the news lately – some chemicals that can be released from Teflon at high temperatures are carcinogens and caused lab animal deaths. 3M has stopped using the chemical because of these same concerns. Environment Canada admitted that the chemical “slipped through the cracks” of health & safety testing and approval.
What do you all think? Should we stop using Teflon pans? Are plain aluminum pans any safer? (I thought aluminum was linked to Alzheimers…?)

We have these cheap pots and pans that are non stick. They came as a 4 piece set. 3 out of the 4 have caused the ”coloring” to come off quite quickly actually we haven’t had these pots all that long they have made the bottoms of the pots rusty and outside the coloring is coming off. My question is what the headline reads and also am i just being ”paranoid” or is this a problem? I think they should be tossed out and buy better ones i don’t like the thought of risking my family’s health over the [...] Continue Reading…

I know the dangers of teflon for human health. So I am wondering if anyone can recommend an alternative option for saucepan?
and if you can provide the brand name it’s even better

A couple of years ago I was shopping for school uniform shorts for my grandsons and I noticed that those sold in the big chainstores were “teflon-coated” in order to be “stain resistant” and “non-iron”. I was not happy about this and bought them some (more expensive) shorts from a proper school uniform shop without such a coating.
I found an article about this and showed it to my daughter-in-law and she then agreed that it was better to be safe than sorry over such matters.
Recently I noticed that my grandsons were wearing teflon-coated shorts after I picked them up [...] Continue Reading…
