TEFLON?
I know it sounds stupid, but I’m curious. We have teflon (non-stick) pans/pots that are pretty old. The teflon is scratched and chipped all over. We currently don’t have the $$$ to buy better quality pans/pots as replacements.
Some of the cookware is in such poor shape that when I cook, the teflon coating comes off in pieces, and gets cooked into the food. They are too small to pick out, so we just eat the food with the little teflon bits in it.
Is this bad for you? Are there any long term effects from digesting teflon? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Is the 15 dangerous toxic chemicals that are emitted from the pan that I burnt enough to be concerned or did I have to see smoke to suggest the release of chemicals??

Teflon, also known polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) itself is relatively inert.
If heated hot enough, though(several hundred degrees), it can decompose and give off some potentially nasty and unhealthy gases. I don’t know right off the top of my head what these would be, but I know that certain species of pet birds are especially sensitive to them.
This hazard can generally be avoided, though, by not heating teflon cookware when empty.
