What Is A Good Alternative To Nonstick (teflon-coated) Pans?

I want to avoid the risk that Telfon poses to human health, so I refuse to use nonstick pans for my cooking. However, my stainless steel pans don’t work so well when I make things like eggs and pancakes. I usually end up with a sticky mess, even if I add a lot of oil/butter. Any types of cookware you recommend?

If you use cast iron buy from a company like Lodge they are a american company and have been in business for over 112 years. They use nothing but the best metals that are safe.
Buying foreign made you cannot be sure on what you are getting
We have been using cast iron in our family for over 90 years.

Cast Iron Pans, when seasoned CORRECTLY, will provide you with a GREAT natural non stick service. There are sometimes instructions for seasoning cast iron cookware on the backside of the items when new. Once your develop enough “patina” which is a slick way of saying leftover cooking debris :-) these instructions may sometimes fill in, and become unreadable. The best unmentioned thing to remember about these items, and it may sound a little gross, is that you should not try to clean them by scouring or with too much of a detergent like Dawn, especially Dawn. It does a great job of breaking down the very deposits that create the non stick effect on the pans. Surprisingly, you can get great Cast Irons Items from some hardware stores like Harbor Freight. I have even bought some for an emergency at a Dollar Tree Store. Good luck if you try the Cast Iron Route.

As a response to that comment, most nonstick pans are coated with PTFE, even if they are not “Teflon”. I heard of one brand trying to say “Teflon is a trademark, so our pans do not contain Teflon” yet they used the same material, lol.
As to type of pan, I can’t really recommend anything, cooking spray usually WORKS for me, although I’ll have to look into the cast iron thing.

Michael is right, and I will add: use a well seasoned cast iron pan. Coat the interior with oil, and bake it for an hour when you get it home after purchase. There are seasoned cast iron available.
My Mom used cast iron for pancakes. They did not stick.
And you get a little bonus from cast iron: a tiny bit of iron goes into the food cooked in it, and into us. Helps us ward off iron poor anemia.

buy a steel wok and learn to use it. They become non stick with use.
do not buy an electric wok or anything other than plain steel.
